What is Cannabidiol (CBD) Oil? Where Does it Come From?

There are over 100 extracts that can be found in the cannabis plant, commonly known
as marijuana. Of them all, cannabidiol (abbreviated as CBD) is the second most
prominent, making up about 40% of the cannabis plant.

Cannabidiol is highly occurring in hemp, a popular cannabis variant, and CBD oil is extracted from speciallybred strains of the plant. CBD appears in the seeds, stalks, and leaves of hemp, and as expected, it has many of the medical advantages the plant provides.

What is not commonly known, however, is the fact that, despite being a major
constituent of cannabis, CBD does not have the intoxicating effect that many people
avoid in cannabis.

So, what we have in CBD is a plant extract that possess the positive medical traits of marijuana but won’t get its users “high”.

How Does CBD Oil Work?

There is an endocannabinoid system in all humans, in all mammals, as a matter of fact.
This system exists in the body in the form of millions of receptor sites in the brain, in
the immune system and throughout the central nervous system.

All these receptor sites are connected neurally, and they have a significant impact on important bodily functions such as moods, appetite, sleep cycle, pain sensors, immune responses and
hormone regulations.

In layman terms, the endocannabinoid system is connected to everything that ensures that the human body and mind are in perfect working condition.

When the activities we partake in daily take their toll on our body, it is the duty of the
endocannabinoid system to help us achieve balance, keeping our body and mind in
unity…

…Now, to ensure that the endocannabinoid system is working perfectly, the
human body produces its own cannabinoids, and they work in tandem to keep things
ticking.

Problems arise when the production of a human’s cannabinoids is insufficient
or irregular. This is when problems like anxiety, mood swings, lack of appetite,
sleeplessness, pain etc. occurs. CBD can then be introduced in such a system in order to augment the production of cannabinoids in the body.

Can CBD Oil Help With Anxiety?

cannabidoil for anxietyAccording to the clinical studies CBD oil has therapeutic properties which treats a number of anxiety related diseases such as panic disorders, OCD, social phobia, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), generalized Anxiety Disorder and depression. CBD results in various actions of the brain helping to treat anxiety disorders.

The CBD acts in the body in few mechanisms. There are two cannabinoid receptors in the human body named as CB1 and CB2 receptors coupled to G- proteins. CB1 receptors are present in the brain and helps in modulating neurotransmitter release. This prevents excessive neuronal activities such as stress, anxiety and depression.

Patients suffering from anxiety and depression have a smaller hippocampus. The hippocampus plays a major role in the brain by promoting memory formation and cognition. Generating neurons in the brain is a successful treatment for a patient suffering from depression.

CBD has the ability of regenerating neurons (neurogenesis) therefore reducing the depression and stress.

A significant amount of research and publications has been made on the ability of CBD oil to effectively treat nausea, reducing inflammation and as means of reducing anxiety and depression.

These studies date back as far as the 1940s and a plethora of new studies has been conducted recently due to the wide amount of health benefits CBD oil can offer.

Clinical studies shows that anxiety and stress can be controlled by medications targeted to the serotonin systems. Researchers found that CBD can increase signaling through the serotonin receptors faster than selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

CBD is capable of increasing the transmission of 5-HT1A, a subtype of serotonin receptor. This increases the availability of serotonin in the synaptic space. As a result brain cells transmit more serotonin signals which reduce the anxiety effects.

A Study on a ten year old girl

A study was conducted by the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine, on a ten year old girl who was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after an incident of sexual abuse.

The patient was supplied only with nutritional supplements and CBD oil to control the symptoms. She was not supplied with any pharmaceutical prescriptions which treat anxiety and depression.

The main result of the case study states that CBD oil can be effective in its ability to reduce anxiety and depression which is caused by post-traumatic stress disorder. During the 5 months period it was found that her sleeping and anxiety scale decreased steadily. As a result of the treatment she was able to sleep on her own room most of the nights.

She was also less anxious to work in school and at home. In addition, her behavior returned to normal and what is deemed appropriate upon treatment.

A multitude of studies conducted on animals seem to also agree with the anxiety and stress reducing effects of CBD oil.

From a larger number of studies, CBD oil has been identified as a proven method of reducing anxiety and depression and is generally safe to use.  Studies conducted on animals also agree with the anxiety reducing effects of CBD oil.

Upon successful treatment, CBD oil use can be slowly cut off and the affected individuals can be directed to long-term coping methods such as meditation to deal with their anxiety issues.

Here is the Deal:

Millions of people in the world today suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, and why
not? Many live in high-pressure home situations, contend with 9-5 jobs, worry
constantly about one thing or the other, and never sleep enough.

Consider a divorced man, John, with an office job…

…First, he has to work hard —maybe even on weekends—
just to make sure the checks keep coming in, and when they do, he has to worry about
paying out alimony and child support. He has to worry about juggling his work
schedule with times he can see and spend time with his kids. He has to do all these
while taking care of himself and avoiding junk food…

…don’t you feel a panic attack coming just by reading about John’s life? Now imagine how unbalanced John’s endocannabinoid system is. Sure, his body is working hard to restore his cannabinoids, but will it be enough?

What of Maggie? While fighting through dyslexia and trying to pass her final papers,
she caught her boyfriend cheating on her with her flatmate. While trying to process
this, she got the terrible news that her nanna died, and her mother fell ill as a result.
Before long, she starts to suffer from anxiety attacks.

The truth is, any one of the situations that John and Maggie above are contending with
has the potential to upset a person’s endocannabinoid balance and bring about
anxiety.

These situations, along with hundreds more that we face on a daily basis bring
about stress and anxiety, and it is important that we face the condition squarely.

Look:

Since it has been proven above that an imbalance in the endocannabinoid system is
what brings about anxiety, it is only right that the perfect way to tackle said anxiety is
to ensure that the system is working perfectly….

…To ensure this, the cannabidiol (CBD) oil is a great resource. In it, you have a readymade supply of the cannabinoids that your body needs to keep stress, anxiety, and depression at bay.

Rather than resorting to pharmaceutical solutions and synthetic medicine, CBD oil gives you a chance to tackle a natural problem with a natural solution…

…I mean, doesn’t it make perfect sense to you? Anxiety is caused by a scarcity of
cannabinoids in the body, and here comes the cannabidiol oil, with a healthy quantity
of it to get you right back on track. Easy as anything.

Conclusion:

So, to answer the question, “Can cannabidiol oil help with anxiety?”, the answer is
a resounding yes!

Bottom line:

Not only does it help with anxiety, it is the healthiest solution out
there, and it brings a host of other medical advantages along with it.

With a healthy endocannabinoid system, you eat well, you sleep well, you have awesome body-mind
balance, and you kick stress and anxiety out. It’s a no-brainer really.
